Silk Lane Group, Technology Distributors

About

Built to run brands, not just move them.

Distributing technical products across the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand for over eight years.

Who we are

One partner for everything a brand needs.

At Silk Lane Group we have been distributing technical products from Asia, Europe and North America for over eight years, building relationships throughout the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

We specialise in the distribution of technical and complicated products, which are often underserved by traditional distributors. Rather than just focusing on logistics and sales, we manage the full process for our partners, which results in a better experience for the customers.

The high service standards also enhance our relationships with retailers, who trust us to provide their end users with an exceptional experience.

We would rather own the outcome than hand it back.

For retailers

What a retailer gets from us.

Staff training

In-store and online training so the people selling the product understand it.

Account management

A named contact who knows the account rather than a shared inbox.

Merchandising

Displays, planograms and point of sale kept current as ranges change.

Servicing and warranty support

Claims handled by us, so the store is not left holding a faulty machine.

Local customer service

A technical call centre in market, in the customer’s own timezone and language.

Product fit solutions

The right range for the store, the region and the customer it actually serves.

Working with us

Who you deal with.

A distribution agreement with Silk Lane Group is discussed with the people who can actually commit to it. There is no account layer to work through, and nothing waiting on a head office in another timezone to approve what was already agreed in the room.

That does not change once the agreement is signed. The people who take your brand on are the people who run it, in every market we cover, and they stay with it rather than handing it to someone else a year in.

Values

How we actually work.

Four things we hold ourselves to, and the same four things a brand partner should expect from us from the first conversation onwards.

Integrity

We tell a manufacturer what we honestly think their product will do in our regions, including when the answer is that it will struggle. Forecasts we cannot stand behind help nobody, and a partner who finds that out a year in never trusts the next number we give them.

Customer focus

The person who bought the product is the one who decides whether a brand grows. Every part of how we are set up, the local call centres, the workshops, the spare parts held in market, exists so that person gets a real answer quickly rather than being passed somewhere else.

Performance

Output, execution and speed. We would rather move on a listing this month than plan it for next quarter, and we measure ourselves on what actually shipped and sold rather than on what was scheduled.

Team environment

People who are looked after look after customers. That covers training, the tools to do the job properly, and a workplace where saying a product has a problem is treated as useful rather than awkward.

In practice

What this looks like day to day.

01

We say no

We turn down products we do not believe we can sell properly, and we will not take on two competing brands in the same category.

02

We protect pricing

A product discounted into the market early rarely recovers, and the brand carries that damage for years after.

03

We keep supporting old models

Parts and repairs continue after a range has moved on. Customers remember who looked after them once the product stopped being new.
